The results above show that trampoline use is the 3rd most popular sport, and the most enjoyed sport by time. Injuries requiring medical attention occurred only 37 times out of 2,303 responses; showing that in actuality more children were hurt riding a bicycle.

Consumer Product Safety Commission regulations clearly state trampolines should only be used by 1 person at a time. Our survey revealed that the average number of people on a trampoline when an injury occurred was 3. Other facts regarding the injuries are listed below:

Survey Results
Avg. Children on Trampoline w/Safety Net 3
Avg. Children on Trampoline w/out Safety Net 3
Avg. number of jumpers when an injury occurred 3
% of Trampolines w/Safety Pads Installed 66% (1,520 trampolines)
% of Trampolines w/Safety Nets Installed 17% (392 trampolines)
% of Injuries w/Safety Nets Installed 43% (16 trampolines)
% of Injuries w/out Safety Nets Installed 57% (21 trampolines)
% of Injuries when jumping off the Trampoline 24% (9 trampolines)
% of Injuries from falling off the Trampoline 33% (12 trampolines)

The main cause of injuries was multiple jumpers at one time. While 57% of injuries occurred from jumping or falling off a trampoline, 43% of injuries occurred with safety nets installed. Only 17% of trampolines used safety nets, which indicates that while safety nets may decrease the incidence of falling injuries, it cannot replace adult supervision. Overall, only 1.6% of respondents reported an injury from using a trampoline, showing that trampoline use is safe when you follow the rules.
